This painting visually depicts the process of someone who is seeking God.For the non-believer this might be the quest to discover whether or not God really exists. The white magnifying glass would then be used to inspect the evidence and confront thoughts of faith and doubt before reaching a conclusion.
For the believer, seeking God comes out of a desire to come into closer relationship with Him and to seek wisdom and encouragement.
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord” (Jeremiah 29:13 NIV), The white hearts shown in the painting represent the path of the straight and narrow (God’s will for a person’s life) and the red dotted lines represent all the alternative paths that will ultimately lead to destructionthat are illuminated by the magnifying glass. Without the magnifying glass the path would seem ambiguous and confusing. God’s words in the bible guide the faithful in the way of light. “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (Psalm 119: 105 NIV)
