Of all the ‘fruits of the spirit’ listed in the bible, the greatest is love in that it is deeply interwoven in all the other fruits namely “joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”(Galatians 5:22-23, NIV). “Three things will last forever–faith, hope, and love–and the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13, NLT)
The suitcase represents anyone who professes to be a follower of Christ. It is portable as the one follows Christ is a vessel for portraying His love (the pink hearts in the suitcase), which is to be evident in both word and actions. The bible clearly states “…those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him…” (1 John 2:5, New Living Translation)
The suitcase in the painting is transparent (the black background showing through) which shows that all believers are called to be honest and upright in integrity and genuine (not hypocritical, judgmental or two-faced) in all that they do. (2 Corinthians 1:12) This is how a true follower can be identified.
