The performance

Well its all over- what a relief!

Despite many flaws ‘The Invisible Pianist” seemed to be effective.  The UV lights didn’t light up the keys as much as I had anticipated so it felt as though I was plunging y hand into a dark space in the bass and the higher notes of the treble at times. Despite this and the numerous inaccuracies that it caused I felt that the performance went well (regardless of how it worked conceptually)

The Invisible Pianist

Hello

I haven’t bogged for a while but I thought I’d take the time right now.  My latest piece of work for my visual art course is going to be a performance art piece happening this Saturday the 18th of May (for more information see the initiation). The performance involves a live pianist (myself) playing the piano in the dark under UV light with white gloves, so all that will be visible is the white gloves.I am also using the phrase ‘From the Beginning” as I will be playing a selection of piano music that starts simple and becomes more complicated as the work progresses, tying it in with the idea of narrative and telling the story through the use of music. My aim is to make it a rather light hearted performance and to keep the audience engaged.

See you all there!
